Apple is facing antitrust scrutiny in a number of countries around the world, among them the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, and South Korea. Japan is now joining the list. The new head of the country’s antitrust regulator has said that the country is ready to play its part in responding to anti-competitive behavior by any of the so-called GAFA companies … Reuters reports. Just last week, the European Union reportedly put Apple on a ‘hit list’ of tech companies set to be subjected to much tighter regulation due to their market dominance....

Apple (AAPL) has officially reported its earnings for fiscal Q2 2021, covering the months of January, February, and March. For the quarter, Apple reported $89.6 billion in revenue and profit of $23.6 billion. This compares to the revenue of $58.3 billion and profit of $11.25 billion the company posted for the same quarter last year. Apple touts that both Mac and Services categories have hit new all-time records for quarterly revenue....

Apple has today purchased an app development service called Buddybuild. For now, there aren’t any details about how much Apple has paid for the company, but the firm did confirm the purchase to TechCrunch. Buddybuild also shared the news in a blog post today, including the details that its team will be joining Apple’s Xcode engineers to work on iOS developer tools. Buddybuild is a Vancouver based company and will be staying put as it merges with Apple, instead of relocating to Silicon Valley....

The iPad lineup is getting some sort of a shakeup next year, seemingly with the introduction of a new 10.5-inch model. Apple’s existing lineup of form factors comprises a 7.9-inch iPad mini, 9.7-inch iPad Air and iPad Pro, and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Apple has confirmed a Financial Times report that high school students interning at Foxconn exceeded their legal hours while working on the iPhone X production line. The company has, however, denied claims that the students were forced to carry out the work as a condition of graduation from school.
