Apple is continuing to green light more shows for production with its billion dollar TV budget for this year. Variety reports that Apple has picked up a new original series called “Are you Sleeping?” based on Kathleen Barber’s novel. The series will star actor Octavia Spencer known for her roles in Hidden Figures and The Help (who is also an alumni of Auburn University like Apple CEO Tim Cook). Witherspoon is also involved in the production and starring in another series coming to Apple’s TV lineup....

Apple today updated its CarPlay webpage to officially add Aston Martin and MINI to the list of partners that already or will soon support the platform. In a press release published today by Apple, the technology company announced that it has finally reached an agreement with China Mobile, and will begin selling the iPhone on this upcoming January 17th. The agreement covers both the iPhone 5s and 5c, and marks the first time the iPhone will be sold in China Mobile’s network of retail locations, along with the Apple Store. China Mobile has been aggressively showcasing Apple products up to this agreement....

Today, Kodak announced the $525 million sale of its patents to two firms, Intellectual Ventures and RPX Corporation. It is interesting that the two companies will work with 12 intellectual property licensee to pay a portion of the over $500 million price tag. The 12 licensees, who aren’t listed by name in Kodak’s press release, would all receive varying access to the digital imaging patent portfolio and other Kodak patents included in the sale....
