Medial research firm Biogen today announced a new collaboration with Apple in the form of a cognitive health research study, powered by iPhone and Apple Watch. The study is trying to identify digital biomarkers that can serve as early indicators of illnesses like Alzheimer’s. The observational research study will commence later in the year. The companies aim to find patterns in the data collected by sensors in the Apple Watch and iPhone and correlate those to declines in cognitive health function....

Continuing the trend, another analyst today is out with his bullish expectations for Apple and the upcoming iPhone 8. As noted by CNBC, Nomura Instinet investor Jeffrey Kvaal has raised his target price for AAPL from $150 to $165 based on the expected iPhone 8 super cycle… Kvaal predicts that Apple will sell 87 million iPhones during the first quarter of 2018, which begins October 1st of this year and runs through the holiday season....

While many analysts have predicted a “super cycle” for the iPhone 8, there have been a handful of reports recently giving more weight to a possible delay as Apple is said to be in ‘panic mode’ in regards to wireless charging and 3D features in addition to other component challenges. The latest report from Barclays analysts suggests that a new bezel-less OLED display won’t be enough to convince many users to upgrade....

Fundraiser site Charitybuzz is currently running a charity auction for lunch with Tim Cook valued at $100,000. The lunch with the Apple CEO will take place at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, and accommodates two people. Lunch is covered, but paying for travel and stay is up to the winning bidder. Also included in the package is two passes to a future Apple keynote event sometime between the end of the auction and May 5, 2017 so there’s a chance the lunch and event could happen at Apple’s in-progress Campus 2....

Apache said version 2.16 “does not always protect from infinite recursion in lookup evaluation” and explained that it is vulnerable to CVE-2021-45105, a denial of service vulnerability. They said the severity is “high” and gave it a CVSS score of 7.5. “Apache Log4j2 versions 2.0-alpha1 through 2.16.0 did not protect from uncontrolled recursion from self-referential lookups. When the logging configuration uses a non-default Pattern Layout with a Context Lookup (for example, $${ctx:loginId}), attackers with control over Thread Context Map (MDC) input data can craft malicious input data that contains a recursive lookup, resulting in a StackOverflowError that will terminate the process....

One of the options available when using Apple’s two-factor authentication (2FA) is to have a code sent to you via SMS. The US National Institute for Standards and Technology, which sets the standards for authentication software, says that text messaging is not sufficiently secure, and that its use for two-factor authentication will in future be barred … While NIST guidelines do not have the power of law, most major companies do abide by them, suggesting that Apple is likely to drop support for SMS authentication once the recommendation is published....

Apple recently kicked off its ‘Back to School’ promo in the US and Canada, offering customers a free pair of Beats headphones for buying a Mac. The same deal will be rolling out internationally in various countries on either August 6th or 7th (exact date depends on country). Like those in the US and Canada, European customers will be able snag a free pair of Beats Solo2 headphones with a qualifying Mac purchase, or get €200 discount on the Beats Wireless Solo2....

Apple has updated its support document detailing 4K displays with Mac support to add LG’s recently announced 31-inch 4K monitor (31MU97). LG previously announced that the monitor would be Mac compatible through its Mini DisplayPort or 2 HDMI ports, but Apple notes that it will only be supported on OS X Yosemite. The other monitors on the list are supported with OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 or later. Apple supports the new LG 4K monitor at either 30Hz or 50Hz refresh rates (30Hz over HDMI and 50Hz over Mini DisplayPort), according to the support document....

Here we will discuss the release of Android 9.0 Pie update for Sony Xperia XZ Pro. Google finally released the 9th iteration of Android OS called Android 9.0 Pie. The update has rolled for Pixel supported devices and few other OEM supported with Android Beta. After putting Android users through four beta updates of Android P, Google has named Android 9.0 as Android Pie. It is expected that in the coming months all the devices that had been signed up for the Android P beta program including the OnePlus 6, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21 and more will receive the Android P update first....

Anydesk is a software program that provides independent remote access to the host application’s personal computers and other devices. It offers functionality like remote control, file transfer, and VPN functionality. But recently, some Anydesk users have reported some problems with the application. For some reason, some users could not take control of the host computer despite setting up the connection properly. The problem could be with the application or the host device’s OS....

The European Union has launched a new initiative called the “Digital Agenda” which hopes to expand the ways in which companies can violate anti-trust laws; especially in environments where standards have yet to be defined. It defends its arguments by stating that where there is no interoperability, competition is lost. “Since not all pervasive technologies are based on standards the benefits of interoperability risk being lost in such areas. The Commission will examine the feasibility of measures that could lead significant market players to license interoperability information while at the same time promoting innovation and competition....

The latest analyst report from Wedbush’s Dan Ives gives the firm’s insight into Apple’s upcoming product roadmap. Like a lot of rumors, Ives expects Apple to replace the 16-inch MacBook Pro with an Apple Silicon model and a chassis redesign incorporating dedicated IO ports. Echoing Bloomberg’s reporting, he expects iOS 15 to include new notifications features, more privacy awareness and perhaps updates to iMessage. The WWDC press images certainly suggest an iMessage connection....

In a government sponsored attack, the monitoring capabilities can be gained by Internet Service Providers and in the case of cyber espionage crimes, having access within a network looking to move laterally inside. This kind of attack is generally not used for large scale attacks, instead the attacker is very well aware of his target and most frequently used websites....

Usually when we talk about bypassing antivirus software, and especially when we talk about antivirus programs like NOD32, Kaspersky, BitDefender… We automatically think about deep coding knowledge, using undocumented APIs or using Zero days exploits, but this is not always true, since by applying some “very” basics approaches we will be able to bypass most of (if not all) antivirus programs, at least for doing some basic things. Basically, all antivirus programs detect malicious files the same way, either by checking for a digital signature inside of the files (which explains the importance of keeping your antivirus up to date) or by a technique called heuristic detection....
