Apple has joined with Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Verizon and others in asking the U.S. Supreme Court to rule that 4th Amendment protections apply to cellphone location data. This would mean that location data could not be accessed without a warrant or court order. The issue is before the Supreme Court as a result of a 2011 conviction … As CNET notes, the court is reviewing a case where location data pulled without a warrant formed a key part of the evidence....

The Apple affordable housing fund first announced last year is now up and running, the company revealing how the first $400M will be spent as it seeks to address California’s growing housing crisis. In Ming-Chi Kuo’s most recent report, the analyst said Apple is looking to launch four 5G-compatible iPhone models in 2020 but would not be drawn on their exact specification. The two competing standards for 5G work on either mmWave and sub-6 GHz spectrum, and devices can support one or the other, or both. A report today from analysts at Susquehanna claims that Apple will only launch sub-6 GHz compatible 5G phones in 2020....
