Apple today announced several new bands and solo artists that will be appearing at the 2014 iTunes Festival in London next month along with Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5 and more for a total of 60 acts. Latest in the series of leaks about the hottest new Battle Royale, Apex Legends, is yet another that seems likely to be true: it’s possible that one of Titanfall’s iconic guns is going to make it into the game sometime soon. An Apex Legends L-Star gun leak has been doing the rounds on Twitter, alleging that players have been receiving skins for this weapon up until the last update that the title received....

The showdown between Apple and Samsung seems far from over. Bloomberg reported Apple made a motion today in a San Jose, Calif. courtroom to include the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (we’re not sure how TouchWiz factors in) into the lawsuit already existing between the two companies. Apple’s move today comes after a similar motion from Samsung in early October, where it filed claims against Apple’s hot-selling iPhone 5....

The iPhone maker yesterday reiterated that stance, and joined with 180 other big businesses in declaring that it was time for a new understanding of the purpose of a corporation… Tim Cook was one of 180 CEOs to sign a new document stating how a company should be run, says Business Roundtable....

Quentin Tarantino’s latest opus, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has been given 10 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt, and Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Tarantino. The intertwining tales of Rick Dalton, Cliff Booth, and Sharon Tate came together to create one of the year’s best movies. Since this is a story about how movies get made, it’s appropriate that the story of how Once Upon a Time in Hollywood came to fruition itself is pretty interesting....

This week, Apple announced that it would be investing $200 million in glass supplier Corning as part of its new Advanced Manufacturing Fund. While the investment may seem straightforward on the surface, invest in a glass company for screens, analysts believe that it actually goes much deeper than that… As noted by CNBC, a pair of analysts on Friday expressed that there’s much more to this investment than just display glass....

It seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons might not include DLC or microtransactions after all, as the official ESRB rating for the game has been updated to remove all references to in-app purchases. Nintendo has wholeheartedly embraced DLC with the Switch, which has included expansions for games like Pokémon Sword & Shield and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Animal Crossing games on Nintendo systems in the past have managed to avoid DLC or paid content....

Apple is among a handful of companies that have signed a friend of the court brief in a case of a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. TechCrunch reports Apple, Yelp, Affirm, PayPal, and Salesforce have all signed on in support of the couple… The report explains that these companies are just the beginning, however, and more will voice their support by next week....

With the latest beta releases, Apple has added the ability for developers to create unified purchases across Mac and iOS. This means that a developer can list an iPad app in the App Store and a Mac version in the Mac App Store. When the customer buys either version, it automatically unlocks for all platforms. Previously, developers could only offer separate independent purchases. This feature is clearly designed with Mac Catalyst in mind but the unified purchase capability can be applied to any Mac app....

Apple is again extending the free period for the Apple TV+ 1-year free trials given out with hardware. With the latest announcement, anybody with an Apple TV+ subscription that was set to expire from now until June will instead expire in July 2021. This means customers who took advantage of the ‘year free’ deal back when the service first launched will now be getting an additional 9 months of free access to Apple original shows and movies....
