We’re brought to Briarcliff, where an accused serial killer and a driven journalist end up trapped in against false accusations and the outdated values of the time. Asylum also explores the topic of aliens briefly, but mostly focuses on the matter of mind and psyche, with a diverse cast of characters and a massive plot twist that no one could have properly predicted....

According to the SIA, 2021 saw the highest ever annual total for the industry. Even so, it failed to keep up with demand, leaving computer manufacturers and the auto industry, in particular, short of components. Despite the shortages felt by these sectors, the industry shipped a record 1.15 trillion semiconductor units in 2021. Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson acknowledged during its recent Q4 2019 financial results conference that Anthem did not live up to expectations, and that the game’s troubled launch period has the company strongly reconsidering its release process moving forward. Anthem’s release wasn’t necessarily a traditional one, given that it had an early access period for EA Origin subscribers, but its launch was marred by technical difficulties and ineffective Day One patches regardless, which apparently has EA going back to the drawing board for major game releases....

Apple today has expanded its Executive Leadership Team to include notable Apple Vice Presidents. The team shown on Apple’s official PR Bios website now includes Vice President of Special Projects Paul Deneve, Vice President of of Environmental Initiatives Lisa Jackson, Vice President and Dean of Apple University Joel Podolny, Vice President of Hardware Technologies Johny Srouji, and Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources Denise Young Smith. Interestingly, each of these positions is fairly new to Apple: Deneve joined from Yves Saint Laurent last year, Lisa Jackson moved over from the EPA last year, Joel Podolny went full-time on Apple University earlier this year, Young Smith was promoted to head of HR earlier this year, and Srouji became head of Hardware Technologies upon Bob Mansfield’s (second) role reduction last year…...

Apple has begun airing a new television advertisement for the MacBook Air that promotes the computer as “the notebook people love.” The ad demonstrates various personal connections to the MacBook Air via various stickers for the computer’s lid. Some stickers range from one of Homer Simpson holding the Apple logo, one with Snow White, and various cool black and white graphics. Apple last updated the MacBook Air earlier this year with improved processors and lower pricing, and significant updates to the line are expected this fall....

After releasing a new beta of iOS 13.5 last week, Apple today has provided new information on its Exposure Notification API for COVID-19. The company continues to underscore the privacy-first design of this API and is releasing new resources to public health authority developers. Apple and Google say that the new resources are designed to help public health authority developers build their exposure notification applications. This includes design concepts of onboarding in Exposure Notification API applications, as well as concepts of positive test results consent interfaces and exposure notifications themselves....

Apple’s rumored HDTV might be called the iTV, according to a new report from Bloomberg citing Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek. In a note to clients this morning, Misek also claimed Apple might buy licenses for programming through possible partnerships with Verizon and AT&T and could “leverage content into a YouTube-like model” by taking advantage of user created video from iPhone and iPad users. He also noted “Lower margins and higher risks” will most likely keep Apple away from creating original programming....

On Thursday, members of Anonymous announced on Twitter that they would be launching attacks against the Russian government. The hacktivists defaced some local government websites in Russia and temporarily took down others, including the website of Russian news outlet RT. The group claimed on Friday that it would leak login credentials for the Russian Ministry of Defense website. The actions came hours after Yegor Aushev, co-founder of a Kyiv-based cybersecurity company, told Reuters that he was asked by a senior Ukrainian Defense Ministry official to publish a call for help within the hacking community....

Motorola announced the Motorola Razr last year and the phone is the company’s first attempt at a folding phone. The device came with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box when it was in February 2020. Thus, it was surprising to see the company stick to last year’s Android version rather than having Android 10 pre-loaded on the device. Update: The issue was resolved after a few hours. A glitch in the iOS App Store means that all apps are shown as having only five reviews on category listings screens. Those using iOS betas were leaving poor reviews for apps simply because they didn’t work with as-yet unsupported versions of the mobile OS....
