It’s been about a year since American Horror Story Apocalypse came out, and it was definitely a wild ride. Ultimately the season of comebacks and guest starts, it brought back loved fan-favorite characters like the witches from Coven and Langdons from Murder House.
With a mixture of well-known characters as well as brand new ones added to the mix, the season gave answers about past storylines fans had been waiting for. Let’s take a look at where the colorful cast of main characters stands in the D&D alignment chart.
Brock: Chaotic Evil
Despite having a minor role at best, Brock appears more often in this season than Timothy and Emily. He’s Coco’s boyfriend, who meets a terrible fate during the nuclear winter. His hair falls off and his body decomposes. However, his wish to have his vengeance against Coco for leaving him behind burns brightly.
Brock is a perfectly normal and stable man brought to his limits through betrayal. His anger and will to destruct characterizes a typical Chaotic Evil character, which is proven in how he stabs Coco and tries to kill Mallory.
Dinah Stevens: Neutral Evil
Dinah may seem like your typical talk show host celebrity, but behind her kind facade, she’s actually the current Voodoo queen and a follower of Marie Laveau. It’s because of her that the witches’ school is attacked by Michael after she sacrifices them in exchange for success in her talk show career. Luckily, Marie Laveau has none of it and comes back, in the end, to deliver justice on Dinah.
Dinah is extremely opportunistic and will do evil as long as it benefits herself. She’s ready to allow Michael to assault the witches in exchange for personal gain, which goes to show she’s a typical Neutral Evil.
Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt: Chaotic Good/Neutral
Coco’s character is interesting because she’s actually at first portrayed as a spoiled brat while under an identity spell. However, as we get to know her later on, we find out that Coco’s actually a very kind and gentle person, although not the sharpest crayon in the box.
Coco is at first a pretty selfish individual, doing whatever she wants, whether good or evil. However, she shifts from a neutral position to Chaotic Good, as she’s revealed to be Mallory’s friend and a talented witch.
Mr. Gallant: Chaotic Neutral
Mr. Gallant is Coco’s go-to hairdresser and ends up with the rest in Outpost 3 thanks to Coco evacuating him in time. He’s a flamboyant and outspoken personality, with a deep dislike towards his grandmother Evie. At the Outpost, he becomes a trouble magnet after Michael tricks him with the Rubber Man demon into killing Evie.
Mr. Gallant acts upon instinct and does what he deems best for himself at a given moment. He’s not afraid to speak his mind and pursue his own interest, which makes him a classic Chaotic Neutral.
Miriam Mead: Lawful Evil
Mead is among the main antagonists of this season. Initially, she appears as Venable’s assistant, but after the Halloween massacre that leaves the Outpost 3 mostly dead, Mead is actually revealed to be Michael’s loyal lackey and a duplicate android of the actual Miriam Mead, a Satanist woman who raised Michael.
Miriam is a supporter of Satanic values and rejoices in seeing the world burn. However, she’s deeply loyal to Michael and the Satanic cult, making her Lawful Evil in the sense that she follows a code.
John Henry Moore: Lawful Neutral
John Henry Moore is one of the warlocks that teach at the warlock’s academy introduced in this season. His character is special, because he’s among the few, if not the only one, to suspect that Michael is much more than a mere warlock. However, when he finally finds out the truth, he’s intercepted by Mead and killed by her.
Moore is at first cautious of the witches’ intentions, too proud to heed Cordelia’s warnings about the apocalypse. Due to his loyalty to the academy, and his change in heart that occurs a bit too late, Moore is initially a Lawful Neutral following the principles of the warlock’s academy.
Madison Montgomery: Chaotic Good
Madison Montgomery is one of the many returning characters from Coven when she’s rescued from her personal hell by Michael. However, ultimately she helps to find out the beginnings of Michael’s life and the past he left behind. Thanks to her return, she fights again Michael at the end, even if she ends up in her own personal hell once more.
In this season we discover that Madison, despite her attitude and previous ambition, is truly a good character. She works hard to find the truth about Michael and even dies in the name of saving the world, returning to her personal hell once more. She’s the perfect Chaotic Good in that regard.
Wilhelmina Venable: Lawful Evil
Leader of Outpost 3, Venable is a sinister woman hellbent on ruling with an iron grip by implementing her own twisted rules that have little to do with the so-called Cooperative. After working as a secretary in a robotics company under two bossy geniuses called Jeff and Mutt, Venable’s only desire is to lead and put her talents to use once and for all.
Venable is a Lawful Evil character down to every detail. She uses power to play with people and pit them against each other. At the end, she even sacrifices the inhabitants of the Outpost in order to force Michael to pick her for his sanctuary. However, all of it is in vain.
Mallory: Chaotic Good
Mallory’s story begins as that of an oppressed personal assistant to the spoiled and wealthy Coco. However, in reality, she’s the next Supreme in line, with powerful magic coursing through her veins. It’s her efforts to go back in time and kill Michael when he leaves his house by running over him in her car that prevents the apocalypse from ever happening.
Mallory is truly a Chaotic Good character, ready to do anything to ensure humanity has another chance at life. By risking her life and even dealing with Coco’s caprices, she seeks to do good.
Michael Langdon: Lawful Evil
The Antichrist himself, Michael is the handiwork of Tate and Vivien, later raised by Constance. However, almost anyone who attempted to care for him turned him away due to his sadistic nature. After he was found by Satanists and taken under Mead’s wing, he begins his plans to bring apocalypse into the world by first posing as a warlock and later as the head of the Cooperative.
Michael is pure evil, but he’s not Chaotic due to his methodical approach to trickery. He uses the power structures of the Satanic cult and the Cooperative to get what he wants, which makes him a Lawful Evil, as he greedily uses power to cause chaos.
