Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has re-affirmed his January claims regarding Apple’s 2013 iPhone roadmap, as noted by MacRumors. As he previously said, Kuo expects Apple to release both an iPhone 5S and a lower-cost iPhone later this year. Kuo adds that the launch is expected to occur this July after an announcement in June alongside iOS 7. The “iPhone 5S,” following in the footsteps of the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, is expected to retain the new design of the iPhone 5, but it will add a smaller, faster processor (presumably an “A7″ chip”), an improved LED “SmartFlash” sensor on the back, and a tweaked camera sensor....

While many early iPhone and iPad prototypes were revealed for the first time during the Apple vs. Samsung trial last year, today Ars Technica got its hands on some photos of an extremely early iPhone prototype that had not yet evolved into the iPhone form factor we know today. The new iPad Pro is out today, and ArsTechnica has a deep dive look at the iPad Pro A12X chip with the help of Apple’s Anand Shimpi and Phil Schiller. Shimpi founded the hardware review website AnandTech before being hired to work on chips at Apple in 2014. Apple has just published a list of App Store improvements that will begin to go into effect next Wednesday, September 7th. The changes seek to remove broken and forgotten apps from the App Store, apps that are currently breaking App Store review guidelines, and that are just no longer functional. The notice to developers today indicates that Apple will begin reviewing and removing non-functional apps on September 7th within all categories from the App Store....

Apple is one of around 300 businesses signing an open letter to President Trump urging him not to deport those young adults nick-named ‘the Dreamers’ – first brought to the U.S. illegally as children, but now registered, working and paying taxes. The Obama administration introduced a program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, which gave them permission to remain living & working in the USA so long as they obtained and renewed work permits....

Apple this evening has shared two new videos as part of its Shot on iPhone campaign. Apple originally introduced videos to the campaign earlier this month and made additions two weeks ago, as well. Apple’s AI expert, Tom Gruber, delivered a TED talk back in April extolling the benefits that AI may provide for us in the years to come. The video of the onstage presentation has now been released and gives us a better glimpse into the future Gruber imagines. His presentation focuses on what he calls “humanistic AI”, the belief that when machines get smarter, so will we. Gruber explains that “the purpose of AI is to empower humans with machine intelligence” and that the two can work together effectively....

American Horror Story: Roanoke adapted Celtic mythology to create an origin story for the first Supreme in the anthology’s continually connected lore. The series sixth season premiered in 2016 and followed Hotel, which was a distinct change of pace for the series as it was the first without mainstay leading lady, Jessica Lange at the helm. American Express updated its Amex Mobile app today with one notable new feature: the ability to login into your account using Touch ID. Log-in securely with the same user ID and Password you use on americanexpress.com. And now, enjoy quicker access with Touch ID, available for supported devices with iOS 8. The new features utilizes Apple’s Touch ID finger print sensor, which in iOS 8 was opened to third-party apps for logins after previously being reserved for unlocking the device itself and authenticating App Store and iTunes purchases....

In a new report, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said not to expect the redesigned Lightning connector or power adaptor to feature as part of the iPhone 6’s package, quoting cost reasons. The new Lightning connector was intriguing in that it was reversible on both ends, including a specially-designed USB connector so that it could be inserted both ways up. The power adaptor was admittedly less exciting, and mirrored the form factor of the chargers seen in Australia....

Analysts are predicting the the launch of the iPhone 5S and 5C will set new records for Apple with the company selling up to 13M handsets in the first nine days following the predicted availability date of 20th September. There is a word on the street that Google will soon drop the Android tag from its business. It is starting out by scrapping the term from its products. Speaking of which, Android messages gets rebranded into Messages. There is, however, no change in the App name as we see in the menu. Not long ago Messages received a noticeable revamp in the design. It is interesting to note that Google in its latest “Made by Google” event never mentioned the term Android....
