Annabelle is causing trouble again - this time, in the Warrens’ own home - in the trailer for The Conjuring spinoff, Annabelle Comes Home. Where the previous two Annabelle films took place prior to Jame Wan’s first Conjuring, this summer’s spinoff picks up shortly after that movie’s prologue. Young Captain Marvel herself, Mckenna Grace, stars here as the Warrens’ ten-year old daughter Judy, who is forced to battle Annabelle when the demonic doll awakens the evil spirits in the cursed artifacts room where she’s been stored....

After a big week of Justice League cast and crew speaking up about the Snyder Cut, another crew member is joining the fray to support the call for Warner Bros. to release the Snyder Cut. Over the course of just a few days, Jesse Eisenberg chimed in on the Snyder Cut for the first time, Jason Momoa once again stated that he’s seen the movie and audiences need to see it, Junkie XL confirmed his Justice League score is complete, two VFX supervisors confirmed many shots are complete or near-complete, and now the aerial second unit director, Clay Staub, is also throwing his hat in the ring....

It’s been nine months since Anthem launched and Chad Robertson, the Head of Live Service and community face of Anthem, has announced that he’s leaving the development team. Now, it’s uncertain who will helm work on BioWare’s once heavily anticipated third-person shooter, a game that has failed to deliver on the promise so many BioWare fans felt it had when it was originally announced. Just three months ago, Anthem Lead Producer Ben Irving departed BioWare to work for a different developer....

Apple is currently busy trying to extricate itself from an App Store mess. It’s making calls, writing letters, publishing white papers, and conducting interviews, all in an attempt to reverse the antitrust tide. Some of the moves it is making frankly signal desperation, and it’s astonishing to me that the company missed an opportunity to enjoy a PR dream instead of its current defensive nightmare. It’s not like Apple couldn’t see this coming – it had internal discussions about the issue a full decade ago …...

The vaccination against COVID-19 has started in several countries around the world, and we have already seen some apps that let users prove that they have taken the vaccine with just their iPhones. Now Apple is tightening the App Store rules to ensure that apps offering proof of vaccination are only submitted by health authorities. According to a statement shared with developers on Tuesday, Apple is seeing an increase in the number of apps that generate health passes with proof of vaccination, which can be required to enter buildings....

Apple is discussing its record numbers from Q1 2012 in a live call occurring right now. During the call, Apple’s SVP and CFO Peter Oppenheimer revealed that in only three months, 85 million users are now using iCloud. That is 5o million more iCloud accounts than iPhone 4S’s sold. Apple today updated its iOS 8 feature availability list to add support for 9 new countries for a handful of Siri features and 5 new countries for CarPlay. New countries receiving Siri Twitter & Facebook integration, directions, and Shazam include Brazil, Denmark, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, and Turkey. In addition, India and New Zealand get access to Siri sports scores. Also added to the list today is support for CarPlay in Brazil, China, India, Thailand, and Turkey, although CarPlay’s Maps feature is not yet available in these new countries....

Update: As expected, AirPods stock is limited. An hour later, the product is no longer available for Christmas delivery. In the US, delivery estimates are now quoting December 29th availability. eBay is already flooded with scalpers selling AirPods at inflated prices. The AirPods are now available to buy from Apple’s Online Store, with delivery before Christmas. You can buy AirPods from Apple and Best Buy (delivery in 2017). After many delays, Apple’s truly-wireless headphones are finally on sale which are the company’s preferred solution to the wireless audio future heralded by the iPhone 7....

After-hours trading in AAPL stock already values the company at $900B, but target prices from almost half the analyst reports seen following yesterday’s bumper earnings report and record-breaking guidance would value the company at more than a trillion dollars … Business Insider had a roundup of 15 analyst ratings, with seven of them setting a target price for the stock above the magic $193 which would see the company hit a market capitalization of a trillion dollars....

A week from today, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max, as well as a new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. Supply chain sources have indicated that this year could be the biggest year for the iPhone since the iPhone 6, and now more analysts are joining that conversation. As noted by Barron’s, KeyBanc Capital Market analysts issued a new investor note today in which they touted the effects that an upgrade in screen size will have on iPhone demand....

Apple has acquired Metaio, a company specializing in several application related to augmented reality. Metaio mysteriously announced that it will stop selling its services last night, and filings with the German government this week indicate that the Apple acquisition is a done deal: Metaio offers six distinct services related to augmented reality, ranging from an SDK to cloud services to business tools. This year, most of the predictions were not about particular technologies, like Hadoop, Kafka or Spark. And they weren’t even about tech genre issues like the battle between data warehouses and data lakes. Instead, this year’s predictions (for next year) focused on broader business or even societal issues, many of which stem from the world’s collective experience of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic and the changes it has imposed. Technology’s in there, of course; for example, there was a lot of discussion of artificial intelligence (AI), low code/no code platforms and architectural approaches to analytics, like Data Fabric and Data Mesh....

Developer Joe Hewitt scored acres of anti-Apple coverage when he slammed the company for its closed iOS development environment — I wonder, then, just how much coverage his latest rant will achieve now Hewitt is slamming Google for claiming Android is “open”, when it isn’t really. At the center of Hewitt’s argument is that Google’s Android code — which claims to be open in the same sense as Firefox or other open projects — isn’t really developed in the same way....

Following Tim Cook’s introductory comments, retail head Angela Ahrendts took the stage to talk about Apple’s retail experience. Ahrendts touted Apple Retail as the company’s “largest product.” Ahrendts said that over 500 million people visit Apple retail stores every year and talked about Apple’s recent expansion of retail efforts, including its new Today at Apple initiative. She also talked up Apple’s biggest retail stores, which include things such as a boardroom for collaboration, a public forum, the Genius Grove, and more....

Not only that, but the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is huge, measuring more than 3 inches by 1.5 inches by 3/4-inch – which The Verge notes is about the size of the Surface power brick....

WhatsApp has finally fixed one its annoying bugs in the latest update to its iOS update: you will no longer see unread notifications badges for muted chats … Muted chats are one of the most handy features of WhatsApp. It’s quite often the case that there will be a thread in a WhatsApp group that doesn’t interest you. Muting that thread means you no longer get sounds, vibrations and banners for that chat, nor will you see it in your notifications – but that pesky badge would still indicate a new message....

Last time Apple checked in during its Q3 2013 earnings report it announced the App Store was home to 900,000 apps and over 375K designed specifically for iPad. Today, the App Store has now reached 950,000 apps and quickly approaches 1 million with Apple accepting 50K new apps in the last two months alone. The news comes from app discovery service Appsfire, which regularly tracks new and updated apps added to the App Store....

Apple has its product launches down to a science. But sometimes issues arise and not everyone can (or is willing to) remain in-line for several hours. That’s why Apple is set to revamp the purchase process for the iPhone 6 launch. In the past, customers who lined up for a new product were given paper cards specifying the exact product configuration they wished to purchase. These cards helped stores keep tabs on product quantities and reassured customers that they weren’t wasting time waiting in line only to find out the product they want is sold out....
